Roskilde Festival Urban Design Toolkit

Roskilde Festival has hired Fundament to create an urban design toolkit for the planning of the festival. The toolkit will provide guidelines for the design of spaces, routes, and neighborhoods within the temporary city of over 130,000 people that emerges during the festival days. The toolkit is tailored to support a co-creation process that happens yearly with over 3000 volunteers, as well as an iterative process of testing and refining the design of routes, spaces, and networks year-to-year.

This spread shows the criteria developed for creating quality festival spaces. These criteria draw inspiration from the 12 quality criteria developed by danish architect Jan Gehl.
