Monwabisi park:
RECLAIMING THE NIGHT
Fundament worked in collaboration with Violence Prevention through Urban Upgrading to facilitate the improvements the a public plaza at Monwabisi Park, a neighborhood within the Khayelitsha Township of Cape Town, South Africa. The project involved two research trips and a final implementation trip, where 10 residents worked with Fundament to clean a site previously used as a dump and launch a pop-up cinema and performance space. The team designed seating, lighting, a screen, and projector box and continues to show weekly screenings in the space. This project was the third phase of a 3-year collaboration with VPUU on this site.
